Harrison County Public Schools teachers and staff participated in a summer technology workshop available through the district’s partnership with Dataseam, with each educator earning a new classroom workstation along with student devices to be used during the academic year.

Dataseam, an education and workforce education organization based in Louisville, works with Kentucky K-12 schools, improving the state’s technology workforce as part of providing new classroom technology to schools addressing advanced curriculum needs preparing students for next-generation workforce demands.
Harrison County has been a partner in the statewide program since August 2024. District participation has brought students and staff nearly $180,000 in new classroom technology during the last year.
Dr. Harry Burchett, Superintendent, shares, “Our partnership with Dataseam is a Win-Win-Win. Our teachers have opportunity to receive high level professional development in the use of instructional technology while also earning state of the art computers to be used by students and staff. Our students have opportunity to work side by side with experts in the field of technology through US DOL-approved apprenticeships.”
Computers provided by Dataseam are linked across the state district-by-district to assemble the DataseamGrid, a vital piece of Kentucky’s innovation and commercialization network. It helps the University of Louisville’s Brown Cancer Center develop more effective cancer drugs quicker and with reduced costs. The cancer computations run securely in the background and do not impede the districts daily classroom and Internet demands. Dataseam has worked in partnership for over 20 years with Kentucky K-12 schools advancing these efforts.

Dr. Burchett continues, “Our community benefits from the cancer research conducted on the Dataseam computers by the University of Louisville. Through this amazing opportunity Harrison County students and staff will secure hundreds of thousands of dollars of instructional technology in this biennium while providing deeper learning opportunities on some of the most advanced technology available to school districts.”

With efforts funded by state and federal funding and appropriation through the Kentucky General Assembly, Dataseam now serves 59 Kentucky districts representing 40% of the state’s over 630,000 K-12 public school students.
